・Brief introduction of Zhao Hongliang
A Chinese sheng maker, he is from Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. He was named one of the "Top Ten Chinese National Instrument Makers" by the Music Reform Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra Society. Since 1986, he has learned to make sheng from his grandfather Zhao Bochun and is the third-generation successor of the Zhao family sheng. The shengs he made often had the six characters "Made by Zhao Hongliang in Hebei" engraved on the sheng stem. "Zhao Jiasheng Musical Instrument Manufacturing Co., Ltd." was founded in the late 1980s and was originally named "Hongliang Musical Instrument Factory". Its founders were Zhao Bochun and Zhao Hongliang, a grandfather and grandson. After retiring from the Beijing National Musical Instruments Factory, Zhao Bochun returned to his hometown and passed on his skills to his eldest grandson Zhao Hongliang. In 2011, the "Zhaojiasheng" brand musical instruments produced by the company were rated as the intangible cultural heritage of Baoding City. In 2014, it was rated as a Chinese folk musical instrument research and development and demonstration base by the Chinese Folk Music Society. After ten years of research, Zhaojiasheng Company has achieved fruitful results in its series of mid- and low-pitched shengs.
