Wang Zeshung Biography
Renowned Sheng maker, arts and crafts master, inheritor of Sheng intangible cultural heritage, executive director of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sheng Professional Committees, director of the Tianjin Musicians Association. In 2018 and 2019, he was successively honored by the Chinese National Orchestra Society's Musical Instrument Making and Reform Committee as one of China's Top Ten Instrument Reformers and Top Ten Makers. He has improved and reformed the keyed sheng, alto sheng, and bass sheng in terms of material selection, reeds, sound principles, and timbre, leading to their widespread use by orchestras such as the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Taipei Chinese Orchestra, and Central National Orchestra. He has also developed and researched the 37-reed, 27-reed, and 25-reed traditional sheng series, establishing it as the most important lineage within the sheng family.
Piano Keyboard Alto Sheng
The air chamber is made of welded copper alloy (all metal), smooth and sturdy, with an environmentally friendly powder-coated exterior that is bright, clear, and never oxidizes. The sheng reeds are drawn seamless copper tubes, ensuring no welding cracks, no air leaks, and no deformation. The sheng reed joints use U-shaped bends for smooth airflow, and a special process connection device ensures consistent timbre and stable pitch, producing sound 20% faster than straight pipe joints. The sheng corners are made of sandalwood, which is hard, non-absorbent, and resistant to deformation. The reeds are made of 5% silver-containing resonant copper, producing a rich, loud, and powerful sound.
The alto keyboard sheng features non-fading anodized gold, is resistant to deformation, and produces a bright, aesthetically pleasing sound. The keyboard uses standard piano keys with appropriate resistance and quick response. The air holes are made of aluminum alloy with intricate patterns and eco-friendly powder coating, making them both beautiful and elegant. The resonance tubes are made of titanium alloy with a wall thickness of 1.2MM, providing a stable and well-structured overall design, bright sound, high volume, and no delay! The overall dimensions of the sheng are 65.5CM in length, 37.5CM in width, and 71CM in height, with a weight of 15KG.
Each sheng has a retractable folding hook connecting it to the air chamber, facilitating maintenance and tuning. The bass sheng and alto sheng stands are retractable and height-adjustable, with universal casters at the bottom for easy playing, transport, and a beautiful, convenient design.
