"François Breton," "Breton," and "breveté de S.M.G. M la duchesse d'Angoulême" were trademarks established by Joseph-François Breton, who used them until his death in 1837. However, instruments engraved with this trademark on the neck and generally predating that year were actually produced later by other manufacturers, such as the craftsman Henry LAURENT and his brothers Nicolas and Michel Fourier, with these instruments being produced as late as 1887.
