Three types of mallets are used: CH-O: an oak mallet with a clear and bright tone; CH-A: an acetal mallet with a round and warm tone; CH-C: a compliant wood mallet with a hard tone. The CH-1 type of hammer head is suitable for playing thicker bells, and the sound is thick and hard; the CH-2 type of hammer head is suitable for playing delicate rhythms and fine-sounding bells. It is a bell hammer with a tapered surface on the bee end to suit the rolling technique.
