Thomastik-Infeld was founded in 1919 in Austria by luthier Dr. Franz Thomastik and civil engineer Otto Infeld, and began making steel strings in the music capital "Vienna". In 1970, the Dominant string was launched and was praised by the famous violinist Itzhak Perlman.
