The 8” Toprak hi-hats are inspired by the Krakeb instrument, metal castanets typically found in Moroccan percussion. They are hammered and have a raw, earthy sound, with precise articulation and controllable dynamic range, without prolonged sustain. The top cymbal contains air holes that facilitate smooth airflow and less weight, allowing for fast and delicate expression. They are slightly thicker than the 7” Tüy and more suitable for performance with drumsticks, producing raw textures complementing such genres as Jungle, Drum & Bass, and Funk. Excellent companions for hand percussionists.
